 "Home Sweet Home"

This is the house I grew up in. I painted this quite a while ago as a gift for my mom. It was early in my career and I was painting in acrylic at the time. It was a hard project with all the dappled light and dark leaves and branches in the canopy. I believe I worked it out pretty well. My mom has since died so the painting comes back to me. My sister wants to purchase it so now it will have a permanent home. Thanks for visiting!

 "Wildlife Pond"

This is Wildlife Pond in Beaver Brook Park in Hollis, NH. This was an earlier piece that ended up in the front window of an art gallery through our painting group I belonged to. It sold a few weeks later. I added the mountains for interest in the background. A nice, peaceful scene.

SOLD

 "Mountain Peek"

This is a scene from way up in the northern mountain country. I was cruising along on a highway country road and saw this opening in between the trees. Of course I had to stop and take some pics. I created this painting from those reference photos. It's too dark as usual as this is an earlier piece and I was just getting started and ended up copying photos for a while. I used acrylic paints at first but after a couple of years I saw that oil paintings were so much more rich and fine. Acrylic trends to be more hard and harsh. Thanks for visiting!

SOLD

 "Covered Walking Bridge"

This painting is one of my earliest and it was quite a challenge. A lot of precise rendering. The stark sunshine needs to be toned down but for an early work it's pretty good. Values are all off but it still has some charm. Sold to a friend. Thanks for visiting.

SOLD

 "Hollis Farm"

This is a scene along the side of the road in Hollis, NH. A beautiful, small town. I painted this from a photo and I was just learning so I merely copied the photo to the best of my ability. I ended up selling it at a Greely Park Art Show one year. Thanks for visiting!

SOLD

"Meadow Ledge Farm"

What a beautiful barn and property. This place is a working farm with a wonderful store. I approached the owners and made a deal. I do this painting and they gave me some cash and $200 worth of goods in their store. What great products they had! Nice people too. The husband came out once and commented he's been meaning to wash the white boards. I told him I thought the dirty boards gave the barn more character. I paint what I see so that is what made it in the painting. BTW, he did not ask me to paint it white. Thanks for visiting!

SOLD

 "Shaker Village Trail"

I joined a plein air group here in NH years ago and we had a running agreement with Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH where we could paint on their property w/o having to pay to get in. This is an area I found at the bottom of a hill and it was quite a bucolic scene. I love the orange/yellow tree to the right. This was entered into a show they did at the village and I ended up making a sale. Thanks for visiting!

"Tim and Bella"

A commission for my sister of our cousin and his recently deceased dog. When he was presented with the finished portrait he was very moved. Another successful adventure! This was somewhat difficult for me as I was enlarging it from a smaller reference, there were two subjects and the reference was not good quality. I took on the challenge and I feel it was rather successful. Thanks for visiting!

"Island Near The Shore"

A plein air piece along a highway leading to Millinocket, ME. I spotted this area as I was driving around looking for a motif. I came prepared the next morning all ready to paint and the weather was beautiful! The traffic was a bit daunting whizzing by at 65 mph but I persisted. A little touch up work in the studio and the piece was completed. I added the boats from Monet paintings to give it more interest. Thanks for visiting!

"Sunny Pastoral"

I found this area while scouting around Jackson, NH. It's right next to a park near a small town center. As soon as I saw the tree and the light I knew I had a beautiful motif. I set up right down in the river bed and proceeded to paint on site. Some more work in the studio and then it's ready for framing. Thanks for visiting!

"Foot Bridge"

This is in the Beaver Brook Park area in Hollis NH. I have hiked here many times and always found this bridge to be quite interesting. I usually took a small snack break here while hiking. It actually divides a pond to the left and to the right. I love this time of year just before the snow comes but there is still some color on a sunny day. Lots of effort put into painting that bridge. Thanks for visiting!

"Country Lane"

A really quaint, country scene with a lane to walk down along the old fence. Take a walk with me on a beautiful sunny day. I wanted to evoke a peaceful country scene that was bucolic. Thanks for visiting!

"Snowy River, Winter Light"

A beautiful winter scene looking down river with the sun in the distance. I loved the bright light coming out of the shadows and the colorful reflections in the water. The deep blue shadows offset the warms of the backgrounds trees. Thanks for visiting!
