"South Park, Summer after Christensen"

This is my version of Scott Christensen's painting and composition. I wanted to take a challenge and see if I could figure out colors, values, edges, etc. My version of his composition. I had fun with this. Just an exercise. Thanks for visiting!

"Meadow Ledge Farm"

What a beautiful barn and property. This place is a working farm with a wonderful store. I approached the owners and made a deal. I do this painting and they gave me some cash and $200 worth of goods in their store. What great products they had! Nice people too. The husband came out once and commented he's been meaning to wash the white boards. I told him I thought the dirty boards gave the barn more character. I paint what I see so that is what made it in the painting. BTW, he did not ask me to paint it white. Thanks for visiting!

 "Shaker Village Trail"

I joined a plein air group here in NH years ago and we had a running agreement with Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH where we could paint on their property w/o having to pay to get in. This is an area I found at the bottom of a hill and it was quite a bucolic scene. I love the orange/yellow tree to the right. This was entered into a show they did at the village and I ended up making a sale. Thanks for visiting!

"The Old Barn"

This is an old barn in Hollis, NH that is somewhat of an icon and the property too. This is a painting of the original barn but it is long gone now and a replica has been built. It was later in the day and I wanted to capture that warm glow in the early evening. Thanks for visiting!

"Winter Light"

I tried to capture the beautiful light in this winter scene. The icy river in the background against the warm colors of the sun made a nice contrast. I liked slapping on the juicy strokes on this one! Thanks for visiting!

"Quiet Corner"

I went out late today to do a quick plein air piece on this blustery spring day. I stood in the shadow of a giant pole for shade as I painted. As the sun was setting it got cold, windy, and the pole shadow kept moving so I had to move my easel with it! Frustrating! :) Well, the cold made me hurry up more so this ended up being a 1 hour study. Thanks for visiting!

"Autumn River View"

This piece of work started out as a plein air piece along the Merrimack river near my home. It was the last plein air adventure I did this year because it was an early day in November and just happened to be unusually warm that day. I only had about an hour before it got very cool and I lost all my sun. I trudged on for another half hour and then called it a day. I've worked it up in the studio since then and here is the finished piece. You can see the remnants of an old bridge that used to be there. I really like the colors in this late autumn scene. "Elegant Trees"

These beautiful trees in the middle are so elegant and old. They stand about 60 feet high and are so magnificent to look at, especially at dusk when the sun catches the trunks near the top. This is in a local neighborhood in my home town of Merrimack, NH. I really enjoyed painting this piece. Thanks for visiting!

"Dunstable Lane"

A nice drive out in the country led me to this road running along a cow pasture. What a beautiful area. I have painted here a number of times. I especially like it in late summer when everything is overgrown. I love the contrast of sunshine and shady areas. Thanks for visiting!

"Beautiful Trees"

This piece was started plein air and finished in the studio. Most of my artwork is finished this way. It was late in the day and the sun was streaking through the trees as it got lower and interesting cloud patterns started to form. A simple, quiet piece. Thanks for visiting!
