 "Winter Farm"

I don't know where this is exactly as my records were not as robust when I first started painting and this is an earlier piece. But no matter, it's a nice winter farm along a snowy road. The ranch style fence leads you into the farm area and a couple of nice trees along the way. Thanks for visiting!

 "Autumn Splendor"

I painted this from a photo I took of a nice Fall scene in October. I pushed the color a bit but I loved the light and how it played across the grass and lit up the autumn splendor. Thanks for visiting!

 "House in Newburyport"

This one is all about the flowers. I colored it up a bit from it's original pass and it looked much better. I really wanted to punch up the light too. Sold it at a private school art show. Thanks for visiting!

 "Front Yard, Summer Bloom"

A nice little house on a small street in the country a bit in Dunstable, NH. I was proud of this one as my skills were getting better. I love all the colors and broken strokes. I rendered the house with more detail as that is the focal point. I sold this at an art show. Thanks for visiting!

 "Mandy On The Lawn"

This is a black lab I used to own way back when. She was very sweet and fun. I was out training her one day in a sit and wait position and snapped a photo. I loved the color of the grasses so I decided to attempt a portrait in the landscape. I like the looseness of the surrounding area with the detail of the dog. Thanks for visiting!

"The Old Barn"

This is an old barn in Hollis, NH that is somewhat of an icon and the property too. This is a painting of the original barn but it is long gone now and a replica has been built. It was later in the day and I wanted to capture that warm glow in the early evening. Thanks for visiting!

"In the Valley"

I found this valley way up north above the White Mountains in New Hampshire. What a beautiful place! This stream was running through it and I found the scenery so spectacular! I painted this on site with a few touch ups in the studio. I really enjoyed painting this piece and I was so happy to find this huge valley. Enjoy!

"Lazy Day"

I really love this area near my home. The park is called Mine Falls  and it covers quite a large area. This section is not visited as much as it's a bit out of the way and not too well known. The river is shallow here and as the sun shines on it you can see all the sparkles. A beautiful place. I wanted a simple, colorful piece where the light was bright and soft. Enjoy!

"Brook Trout Heaven"

I set up right by the riverside and positioned myself looking upriver. The view downriver was beautiful too. The area is right next to a country road with a nice path and a little flat area next to the river to stand for fishing or in my case, to paint. I loved all the colors, the shallow river, and the way the river twisted and turned a bit as it disappeared into the distance. Painted on site with minor touch ups in the studio. Thanks for visiting!

"Silo's Restaurant"

This is an old silo next to a farm that was converted into a restaurant sometime in the past. It has changed hands over time. I sketched this on site across the street in a church parking lot. Just a nice, simple pencil sketch. Enjoy!

"Country Home in Hollis"

It was a wintry day and I parked my car on the side of this country road. I liked the look of the scene so I decided to sketch it from inside my car. It was quiet and no traffic so it was a peaceful session. Just a simple sketch of a country scene in a small town. Thanks for visiting!

"House in Hollis"

I was experimenting with different media and this sketch was done with vine charcoal. It is usually softer than standard charcoal and can smudge much easier. It has it's pros and cons but I find it interesting and useful so now I use it regularly. I had fun drawing this scene and I like the result. A quick sketch with personality. Enjoy!

"Farm in Dunstable"

A nice bucolic scene in northern Massachusetts in the small town of Dunstable. I sketched this live on the spot using a Sharpie marker. No erasing with ink so you have to be aware at all times. It was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed sketching this scene. Enjoy!

"Coffin Pond"

A nice plein air piece painted on site in Sugar Hill, NH. This is a place called Coffin Pond. It was very peaceful and sunny with a beautiful view and wonderful colors. Had a very satisfying painting session. Thanks for visiting! :)

"Tranquility"

A nice, peaceful scene of a still pond on a bright, sunny day. I punched the color up a bit and kept the composition simple. Thanks for visiting!

"Old Tree"

I sat in a lawn chair in this nice, quiet neighborhood and sketched this wonderful old tree for a couple of hours one summer day. It was early evening and it was so peaceful. It was quite a challenge but I enjoyed the experience. Thanks for visiting!

"Souhegan River"

This is a section of the Souhegan River in Wilton, NH. It winds along the road along Route 31 among other places. I pulled off into a small rest area and walked through a small patch of woods to set up my easel and sketch the scene. I reworked it in the studio and present the finished piece here. I really like the light and the view. It was such a beautiful place. Thanks for visiting!

"O Christmas Tree"

This was a quick sketch I did originally without much background or shading. After about a year I went back to it and created a more finished piece. I used charcoal, sharpie pen, white conte´pencil, kneaded eraser and my fingers! It's an interesting mix of textures, values, mediums, and methods. I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!

"Shed in the Sun"

A plein air sketch of a nice rural scene in the town of Hollis, NH. It was a beautiful summer day and the area was very quiet. I have driven by this many times and always wanted to do something with the scene. On this day I was in the mood for sketching. I worked it up in the studio to finish things up and correct any areas I wasn't happy with. Thanks for visiting!

"Reeds Ferry I, Winter"

This is a small sketch I did on a winter's day sitting in a chair in the snow. It was sunny and nice out so it was a pleasurable experience. I've always loved that tree and the hanging branch with the way it reflects in the water. This used to be an old ferry stop for boats to ship goods up and down the Merrimack river to points south including Boston, MA. Thanks for visiting!
